Recap from the 2016 Family Summit

Crosswinds—in collaboration with Lifeline Youth & Family Services and The Summit—was able to present a community event to inspire, educate, and equip over 200 parents, educators, and social service providers in our communities: the Family Summit. The event was held on Saturday, October 29th, 2016, and included opportunities for attendees to participate in breakout sessions covering a range of topics such as: social media, mentoring, mental health, suicide prevention, and family coaching. Attendees were also able to exchange personal stories and visit booths hosted by various organizations. The keynote speaker for our event was Mark Gregston, who is the nationally‐known author, radio host, and founder/owner of Heartlight Ministries. Mr. Gregston has more than 35 years of experience helping teens and parents, and we were pleased to bring such expertise to our community.

At the conclusion of our event, attendees and exhibitors were asked to provide their feedback via a Participant Survey. Through this instrument we learned:

 100% of respondents would participate in the event again.
 100% of respondents believed the event was worthwhile and exceeded their expectations.
 100% of respondents believed that the information presented in the keynote sessions was helpful to understanding the issues related to parenting today’s teenagers.
 99% of respondents felt that the keynote sessions were inspirational and an encouragement to them as a parent.
 99% of respondents would recommend the keynote sessions to others.
 94% of respondents would recommend breakout sessions to others.

Beyond the statistical data are the individual responses of those who participated in the event. Here is what a few of them had to say:
“We have a new mentor/volunteer because of your Family Summit.” ‐ Unity Performing Arts Foundation (Exhibitor)
