Internships & Volunteer Opportunities

Help Troubled Teens at our Summer Camp Program

Complete your internship in the Dominican Republic at Caribbean Mountain Academy! At Caribbean Mountain Academy, you can serve alongside Crosswinds Staff as we help struggling teens discover a new outlook on life, family and relationships. And we bet you’ll be changed, too!

Internships

How Will I Be Serving?

Crosswinds interns will be serving at Caribbean Mountain Academy alongside staff missionaries who are working with struggling teenagers. Through mentoring, discipleship, and community service projects, Crosswinds is helping teens to think outside of themselves and to develop a passion for service that will carry them throughout their lives. All interns will receive the same training as Crosswinds full-time staff members, including: planning meetings, student strategy meetings, facilities work, recreational planning, mission team assistance, administrative work, teacher’s aid, ministry finance and giving.

International Discipleship

Crosswinds interns will experience hands-on discipleship that will provide life-changing results.

Personal Discipleship: Interns will be mentored in discipleship by Crosswinds full-time staff.

Student Discipleship: Interns will be paired with Caribbean Mountain Academy student(s) to act as a personal mentor.

Mentoring

Crosswinds provides a perfect mentoring environment for interns as our missionary staff work to change the lives of the teens in our care and simultaneously teach interns who are serving in a supporting role.

Personal Mentoring: Interns will be paired with Caribbean Mountain Academy missionaries for discipleship/mentoring. Additionally, all interns will be taught biblical truth from Dominican pastors, Christian psychologists, licensed therapists, staff pastors, and other local missionaries right along with our students and staff!

Student Mentoring: Crosswinds program keeps our students very active by partnering with short term mission teams from the United States, on campus, and in the community. This outreach, already built into our daily programming at Caribbean Mountain Academy, provides the perfect backdrop for interns to mentor the students at Caribbean Mountain Academy through evangelism and service projects.

Excursions: While helping to supervise and mentor the teens of Caribbean Mountain Academy during off-campus excursions, interns will have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Dominican Republic. Examples of excursions include: hiking Pico Duarte (the Caribbean’s tallest mountain at over 10,000 feet), hiking to waterfalls, beach activities (snorkeling, volleyball, surfing), white water rafting, rock climbing, and shopping at open air markets

Details

Location: Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic

Accommodations: Interns will be able to live in either student houses with our full time staff members – sharing “life” with students and staff – or staff housing, also located on-campus at Caribbean Mountain Academy.
