Parent Involvement

How We Keep Parents Informed

Each family with a child at Caribbean Mountain Academy will be assigned a Therapist. This person has one priority, and that is to make sure you receive the highest quality of service from our team.  Your Therapist will be the one updating you on how things are going with your son or daughter, scheduling any phone or web meetings, answering your questions, sharing progress reports, and making sure all of your needs and expectations are being met.  Whatever the need or question, they are the only call you’ll need to make.

Communication with Your Child

We believe that communication within families is vital, and encourage you to connect with your child through mail, email, phone calls, care packages, or web chats. This will be especially important as your child progresses through treatment and begins to see family relationships with a new perspective. Crosswinds policy allows a minimum of 10 minutes and up to half of each phone call to be completely unmonitored and private, giving your child the ability to speak openly with you about how they are doing. The remaining portion of the phone or video call is monitored as a crucial part of our therapeutic process. One of the primary goals of our program is to help families learn how to communicate with each other in a healthy and effective way. Monitoring a portion of the phone calls allows our therapists to identify communication issues and then work through these issues during individual and family counseling sessions. As communication improves, less and less of the call or video call is monitored, as it is no longer needed as part of treatment.

Campus Visits

Visiting your child at our therapeutic Christian boarding school, Caribbean Mountain Academy, is allowed and strongly encouraged. Only visitors from the “Approved Contact List,” given to us by you at your child’s enrollment will be allowed on campus, with presentation of a valid photo ID. We do ask that visits take place after your child has been with us at least three months, giving your child time to adjust to the program and giving you both time to begin the healing and growing process through counseling. Before your visit, you can work with our therapeutic team and the Caribbean Mountain Academy Director to also schedule off-campus time with your child.
